Spartans drop back-to-back games against BCC and Villa Grove

St. Joseph-Ogden dropped back-to-back softball games to start the week, losing 8-3 on Monday (April 3) at Bloomington Central Catholic and then falling at home on Tuesday (April 4) to Villa Grove, 13-8.
The runs allowed against Villa Grove were the most SJ-O had permitted in any of its first 10 games.
Addison Frick accounted for all of the offense against BCC and Tennessee Tech-bound pitcher Emily York. She slammed a solo home run in the fifth inning and blasted a two-run shot in the seventh, also scoring Ashlyn Miller.
The third SJ-O hit was a single by Halle Brazelton. Peyton Jones drew two walks and stole two bases.
Timera Blackburn-Kelley pitched three innings and fanned three batters. Madison Stevens worked three innings and recorded two strikeouts.
Against Villa Grove, Shayne Immke continued to pound the ball. She was 4-for-4 with a triple and two home runs. She scored three runs and drove in three runs.
Jones had two hits, two RBI and two stolen bases. Katharine Short also delivered two hits.
Alyssa Acton pitched three innings and was relieved by Blackburn-Kelley, who went three innings and fanned two hitters.
SJ-O (5-5) returns to action on Thursday (April 6) at home against Rantoul.
