Trimble, Ennis and Sarnecki place in discuss at Rantoul

St. Joseph-Ogden athletes swept the top two positions in the discus on Tuesday (April 4) in a five-school boys’ track and field meet at Rantoul.
Brock Trimble was the individual winner (157 feet, 4 inches) and teammate Jackson Ennis was second (124-3). Another Spartan, Carson Sarnecki, was fourth (118-3).
The Spartans also fared well in the shot put. Trimble was third (41-2), Ennis was fourth (40-8) and Kyle Meccoli was fifth (40-4).
In the high jump, SJ-O’s Garrett Siems was third (5-8) and Colin Wayland tied for fifth (5-5).
The other individual meet champion for the Spartans was 200-meter runner Jackson Greer, who raced to victory in 22.66 seconds.
Two Spartans nabbed a pair of top-six finishes in running events.
Mason Guido was fourth in the 800 meters (2:18.15) and fifth in the 400 meters (55.86).
Tyler Burch ended fifth in the 200 meters (23.35) and sixth in the 100 meters (11.50).
Other team leaders for SJ-O in individual events were Aden Armstrong (third in the 400 meters in 55.37), Kyler Swanson (third in the 300 hurdles in 45.28), Wyatt Wertz (fourth in the 300 hurdles in 45.40), Landon Smith (fifth in the 110 hurdles in 19.53), Colton Overstreet (sixth in the 110 hurdles in 19.74 and Holden Jones (sixth in the 800 meters in 2:20.03.
Danville (172 points) won the meet. SJ-O amassed 121 ½ points and placed fourth.
SJ-O returns to action on Saturday (April 8) at the Rantoul Invitational.
