Comet baseball shuts out Iroquois West

Dalton Hobick pitched a two-hit shutout on Friday (April 7) as Oakwood won a baseball game at home, 5-0, over Iroquois West.
Hobick is the third Comet hurler with a shutout this spring. He walked four and struck out 15. He faced 12 different IW batters and fanned 11 at least once.
Bryson Marcinko laced three hits. Hobick also swatted two hits, his fifth successive two-hit game. Both Hobick and Marcinko stole two bases.
On Tuesday (April 4), Alec Harrison and Grant Powell combined on a three-hitter as Oakwood posted a 7-2 baseball win at Casey-Westfield.
Harrison threw six innings and scattered three hits. He walked five, struck out eight and yielded one earned run. Powell pitched a perfect seventh inning, facing three batters and striking out all three.
Powell was also a catalyst at the plate, going 3-for-3, including a double, and scoring two runs. Hobick and Marcinko each powered two hits. Hobick scored two runs, drove in two runs and swiped two bases.
Josh Ruch delivered two RBI.
Oakwood (8-2-1) returns to action on Monday (April 10) at home against Watseka. The Comets are working on a five-game winning streak.
