Enos pitches shutout as Oakwood defeats Iroquois West

Gracie Enos was backed by an errorless defense and pitched a shutout on Saturday (April 8) as Oakwood blanked Iroquois West, 12-0, in a softball game in Oakwood.
Enos allowed three hits and struck out five batters.
Landing two hits apiece for the Comets were Samantha Dunavan, Lacey Harrison and Audrey Schnaus. Driving in two runs apiece were Olivia Fegett, Gracie Hanner and Sophia Hart.
Oakwood staked Enos to a 6-0 lead after one inning.
On Friday (April 7), Dunavan ripped a home run and drove in five runs as the Oakwood softball team recovered from a 3-0 deficit to beat Iroquois West in a five-inning game,19-8.
The Comets trailed, 3-0, before they batted for the first time, but held a 6-3 lead after an inning. Oakwood tallied six runs in each of the first three innings in reaching a season’s high for runs scored.
Oakwood went ahead to stay, 12-6, after two innings. A double by Harrison drove in two runs in the inning. Also contributing RBI in the second inning were Hanner, Bella Bradford and Schnaus.
Gracie Enos pitched four innings in relief of Bradford and picked up the win. Enos struck out seven batters and allowed three hits.
Finishing with two hits in the game for the Comets were Bradford, Dunavan, Hanner, Harrison, Hart and Karleigh Nelson.
Nelson stole a game-high four bases.
Oakwood (4-7) returns to action on Monday (April 10) at home against Watseka. The Comets have won four of their last six games.
