Carter, Jones win events at Rantoul

Junior Payton Carter was a double winner for the St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ track and field team on Tuesday (April 11) in a three-school meet at Rantoul.
Carter won the 100 meters (13.46 seconds) as well as the pole vault (11 feet, 5 inches).
SJ-O’s other individual winner was Helene Jones in the 400 meters (1:05.54).
Scoring runner-up finishes for the Spartans were Jones (800 meters), Kaytlyn Baker (100 hurdles), Allison Ochs (discus), Lyla Frerichs (high jump and vault) and Emily Elsbernd (long jump).
Capturing thirds were Madison Clampitt (200 meters and pole vault), Hannah Mock (400 meters) and Addison Ross (discus).
Elsbernd was fourth in the 200 meters and Clampitt was fourth in the 400 meters.
Rantoul was the meet champion with 184 points. SJ-O was third with 140 points.
SJ-O returns to action on Friday (April 14) in the Unity Invitational, in Tolono.
