Heritage places second at Hoopeston meet

Senior Rowan Denmark-Collins was the individual winner in the 1,600 meters on Monday (April 10) in a four-school boys’ track and field meet at Hoopeston Area.
His time was 5:19.24. In the same race, teammate Joshua Stierwalt was third.
Stierwalt, a freshman, won the long jump.
Sophomore Hunter Montgomery won the 3,200 meters (13:26.84).
The Hawks also fielded the winning 3,200-meter relay and the runner-up 1,600-meter relay. Each entry had the same runners.
In the 3,200, the foursome of Rowan Denmark-Collins, Eli Denmark-Collins Cohen Sands and Zach Ruwe was triumphant in 10:41.84.
In the 1,600 relay, the unit placed second.
Heritage’s Timmy Wilson ended second in the 200 meters and fourth in the 100 meters. Ruwe was the 400-meter runner-up and Sands was fourth in the same race.
In the 800 meters, Eli Denmark-Collins was third and Stierwalt was fourth.
Team honors were won by Georgetown-Ridge Farm with 43 points. Runner-up Heritage had 31 points.
Heritage will return to action on Friday (April 14) in the Monticello Invitational.
