Smith places in two events at Salt Fork Invitational

Sophomore Connor Smith was a two-event placer in individual events for Oakwood on Tuesday (April 11) in the Salt Fork boys’ track and field invitational at Catlin.
Smith raced to a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters and also took sixth in the 100 meters.
He was also part of the fourth-place 1,600-meter relay joining Saul Carrillo, Kaden McDaniel and Macen Phillips.
Three of the Comets’ other relays wound up among the top six.
A 1,600-meter medley relay (where the relay legs were 200 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and 800 meters) captured fifth. Sharing the baton were Jacob Pricer, Jack Ajster, Jakob Rupp and Grant Brewer.
Both the Oakwood 400- and 800-meter relays wound up in sixth place.
The 400 foursome consisted of Bryson McDaniel, Connor Taflinger, Macen Phillips and Noah Phillips.
The makeup of the 800-meter relay was Pricer, Kaden McDaniel, Tucker Pesek and Taflinger.
Oakwood will return to action on Thursday (April 20) at Westville.
