Comets remain unbeaten in Vermilion Valley Conference

Dalton Hobick struck out 11 batters in six innings on Friday (April 14) and also stole four bases as Oakwood remained unbeaten in Vermilion Valley Conference baseball action with an 8-5 win at Milford.
Hobick walked two batters and allowed one earned run in his pitching stint. He also belted two hits and tallied three runs.
Bryson Marcinko contributed three RBI and Matthew Miller knocked in two runs. Grant Powell scored two runs and also pitched the seventh inning, logging one strikeout.
On Saturday (April 15), the Comets reached double figures for runs scored for the fifth time, overpowering Attica, 12-1, in a game played in Indiana.
Marcinko turned in a complete-game pitching performance. He scattered two hits, did not allow an earned run and walked two batters. He also registered six strikeouts.
Powell swatted two hits and knocked in three runs. Miller tallied three runs. Chase Harrison and Joshua Ruch each produced two RBI. Ruch landed two hits. Bryson Myers scored two runs as did Ruch.
Oakwood (11-3-1) returns to action on Monday (April 17) at home against Hoopeston Area.
