Milford defeats Oakwood softball

Oakwood was held to five hits in a Vermilion Valley Conference softball game on Friday (April 14) and lost a 14-1 decision at Milford.
The Comets’ hits came from the bats of Samantha Dunavan, Gracie Enos, Olivia Fegett, Audrey Schnaus and Rylee Wright.
Enos pitched four innings and took the loss. She walked one batter and struck out three.
On Saturday (April 15), the Comets lost three games in the Tuscola Invitational, falling to Camp Point Central 13-1, to Tuscola 14-0 and to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 8-5.
Dunavan collected two hits and drove in a run against Camp Point. She clubbed her team-leading fifth home run. Caydence Vermillion pitched four innings and recorded three strikeouts.
Against Tuscola, Enos fanned two batters in five innings. The Comets managed just three hits, two by Vermillion.
Schnaus had two RBI and Dunavan one against AL/AH. Other Comets with hits in the game were Bella Bradford, Matilyn Griffis and Lacey Harrison. Rylee Wright pitched three innings.
Oakwood (5-12) returns to action on Monday (April 17) at home against Hoopeston Area.
