Brazelton and Immke hit home runs in win over Prairie Central

Halle Brazelton and Shayne Immke each cracked home runs on Monday (April 17) as the St. Joseph-Ogden softball team topped Prairie Central, 8-1, in an Illini Prairie Conference game at Randy Wolken Field.
Brazelton and Immke both landed three hits for the day. Immke’s homer was a solo shot. Brazelton’s blast was her first. She delivered two RBI.
Immke also belted her 10th triple of the season and stole two bases. Addison Frick also swiped two bases.
SJ-O was limited to eight hits. Frick and Grace Osterbur both drove one hit.
Left-hander Alyssa Acton (5-5) pitched all seven innings for the Spartans. She allowed five hits, walked one and struck out three batters.
On Tuesday (April 18), SJ-O avenged a loss to Mattoon that took place four days earlier with a resounding 12-2 triumph at home.
Freshman Timera Blackburn-Kelley (6-2) pitched a complete-game four-hitter. She walked one and struck out two and did not yield an earned run.
She was backed by an offense that featured home runs by Immke and Addy Martinie. Immke’s blast came as the Spartans first hitter in the opening inning.
Addison Frick and Peyton Jones each bashed three hits. Frick pounded two doubles and Jones had one double to go with three RBI. In addition to her two hits, Martinie tallied three runs. Katharine Short also knocked in three runs.
Scoring two runs apiece were Brazelton and Immke. Jones swiped two bases.
On Wednesday (April 19), Madison Stevens pitched a complete-game six-hitter and fanned six hitters to earn the win in a 13-3 non-conference win at home over Mount Zion.
Jones was 3-for-3 and scored three runs in addition to driving in two runs. Immke (her 11th of the year) and Brazelton (her second of the year) each blasted home runs. Immke scored four runs and Brazelton knocked in four runs.
Teammates Acton and Grace Osterbur each landed two hits.
SJ-O (13-7) returns to action on Thursday (April 20) at Pontiac.
