Heritage baseball overcomes deficit to defeat Tri-County

Julliyan Gray struck out a season-high 13 batters on Monday (April 17) and the Heritage baseball team overcame a 3-0 deficit after three innings to capture its first win of the season, 7-4, at home against Tri-County.
Gray pitched 6 2/3 innings and scattered four hits. He issued one walk. Reliever Rylan White ended the game with a strikeout.
Heritage completed its comeback with a six-run sixth-inning.
Haiden Davis and Zaien Smith each poked two hits. Gray knocked in a season-high three runs.
Other Hawks with hits, besides Davis, Gray and Smith, were Anthony Happ, Robert Holloman and Brennon Struck. Holleman, who stole two bases, Joey Markstahler and Struck all drove in a run.
Scoring runs in the sixth inning were Holloman, Markstahler, White, Derik Brown, Davis and Gray.
On Tuesday (April 18), Heritage suffered a 13-4 loss at home to Schlarman Academy.
The Hawks were limited to two hits, an RBI-double by Destin Nickle and a triple by White. Happ drew two of the three walks his team received. Gray also had an RBI.
Two freshmen were used on the mound by Heritage and neither issued a walk. White struck out four batters in three innings and Happ fanned six batters in four innings.
Heritage (1-12) returns to action on Thursday (April 20) at Arthur Christian.
