Julliyan Gray slugs first home run of the season
By Fred Kroner
Julliyan Gray slugged his first home run of the season on Thursday (April 20), but his two-run blast wasn’t enough offense for Heritage, which lost a 13-3 baseball decision at Arthur Christian.
Destin Nickle had a double and scored a run for the Hawks. The team’s other hits were by Robert Holloman and Rylan White, whose single drove in Zaien Smith.
Pitchers Brennon Struck and Holloman combined to strike out five batters in four innings.
On Monday (April 24), the Hawks were held hitless and dropped a 9-0 decision at Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
Anthony Happ walked on both of his plate appearances. White was the team’s other baserunner, also drawing a walk.
Heritage (1-14) returns to action on Wednesday (April 26) at home against Blue Ridge.
