Taylor and Sperry are top placers for Comets at Monticello Invitational

Nikita Taylor and Quinn Sperry were the top individual placers for the Oakwood girls’ track and field team on Friday (April 27) at the Monticello Lady Sage Invitational.

Taylor finished 10^th in the long jump (15 feet, 1 inch) and 13^th in the 200 meters (29.56 seconds). Sperry ended 14^th in the discus (80 feet, 9 inches).

Three Oakwood relays also fared well.

The 400-meter foursome of Taylor Smoot, Luci Morris, Taylor Jett and Aubri Elliott was 11^th in 57.30 seconds.

Handling the baton in the 800-meter relay were Elliott, Morris, Jett and Taylor. Their cumulative time was 2:02.47.

The Comets’ 1,600-meter unit of Elliott, Cassie Fugate, Jett and Taylor came in 13^th in 5:12.09.

Oakwood will return to action on Tuesday (May 2) at Seeger, Ind.
