Illinois Department of Natural Resources to Host Wildlife Basics: Illinois Wild Mammals Workshop
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is set to host a Wildlife Basics: Illinois Wild Mammals workshop on July 6, 2023, from 9 am to 3 pm at the Kennekuk Environmental Education Center. The workshop is part of the Environment and Nature Training Institute for Conservation Education (ENTICE) program and will be open to educators and anyone interested in learning more about the wild mammals in Illinois.
The workshop will offer an introduction to the life history of species and go on a hike to look for mammals and their signs. Instructors will also show attendees how to use the topic of “Illinois wild mammals” to support the teaching of several of the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards for Science and Next Generation Science Standards with their students. Professional Development Hours will be available for attendees.
The registration fee for the workshop is $10 per person, and interested individuals can register at https://www.enticeworkshops.com. Anyone with questions about the registration process can contact the IDNR Division of Education via email at dnr.teachkids@illinois.gov or by calling 217-524-4126.
While the workshop is primarily aimed at educators of prekindergarten through 12th grade, it is open to anyone interested in learning more about Illinois mammals. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the natural world around them and how to incorporate it into their teaching.
