Travis Tiernan pitched a no-hitter and was one walk away from a perfect game on Monday (May 1) as the Oakwood baseball team scored a 10-0 Vermilion Valley Conference win at home over Armstrong-Potomac.
Tiernan (7-0) struck out seven batters.
Joshua Ruch and Grant Powell paced the offense with two hits apiece. Ruch, Bryson Marcinko, Bryson Myers and Brody Taflinger all scored two runs. Ruch and Dalton Hobick drove in two runs apiece.
Oakwood (18-6-1) returns to action on Thursday (May 4) at home against Tri-County. The Comets are 9-0 in VVC games.
