Elliott finishes in top 8 at Vermilion County girls’ track and field meet

Oakwood sophomore Aubri Elliott finished among the top eight in two individual events and with two relays on Thursday (May 4) in the Vermilion County girls’ track and field meet.
Elliott posted personal-best times in both of her sprint races, coming in fifth in the 400 meters (55.84 seconds) and eighth in the 100 meters (14.56 seconds).
She was part of the fifth-place 800-meter relay, joining Luci Morris, Taylor Jett and Nikita Taylor for a time of 2:01.54.
Elliott also helped the 400-meter relay get sixth in 57.07 seconds. She teamed up with Taylor Smoot, Morris and Jett.
Other Comets who placed in the top 10 and achieved personal-bests were Smoot (eighth in the 400 meters in 1:13.22) and Mady Nicoson (seventh in the discus at 73 feet, 2 inches).
Quinn Sperry grabbed two top-10 finishes. She was eighth in the shot put (25 feet, 7 inches) and 10th in the discus (70 feet, 10 inches).
Taylor ran sixth in the 200 meters (29.73 seconds).
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin was the meet champion (165 points) and was followed by Milford (81 points). Oakwood tied for eighth place with six points.
Oakwood returns to action on Thursday (May 11) in a 20-school Class 1A sectional meet at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
