Comets register personal bests at PBL Sectional

Two Oakwood athletes, who placed among the top 10 on Thursday (May 11) at the Paxton-Buckley-Loda girls’ Class 1A sectional track and field meet registered their top times.
Nikita Taylor was 10th in the 200 meters (28.90 seconds) and Taylor Smoot ran 10th in the 400 meters (1:11.44).
Four other Comets finished among the top 10 in individual events, including Quinn Sperry, who captured fifth in the shot put at 30 feet, 7 inches.
Other team leaders were Taylor (ninth in the long jump at 14 feet, 6 inches), Elliott (10th in the 300-meter hurdles in 56.28 seconds) and Mady Nicoson (10th in the discus at 72 feet, 6 inches).
Two Oakwood relays – featuring the same runners – also fared well.
The 800-meter grouping of Smoot, Luci Morris, Aubri Elliott and Taylor were timed in 2:03.18 and came in seventh.
When the foursome took to the track for the 400-meter relay, they ended ninth in 56.43 seconds.
Oakwood did not have any state-qualifiers.
