Homer and St. Joseph Fire Chiefs establish No Burn Orders

The St. Joseph Stanton and Homer Fire Protection Districts have placed a No Burn Order for the entirety of their respective districts.

Homer Chief Don Happ and St. Joseph Stanton Chief Josh Reese wrote: “Due to the severe dry and windy conditions fires will spread quickly. Currently, there is no precipitation in the near future to aid in the relief of this. Please no Burn Barrels, Fire Rings, recreational fires or Open Fires of any type,” on their Facebook pages.

WCIA’s Meteorologist Jacob Dickey recently reported Central Illinois is currently experiencing the worst drought seen in the last decade. The forecast for June 25 and 26 includes rain and cooler temperatures in the coming week.
