In its season-opening competition, the Bring 5 Scramble on Thursday (Aug.10) at Danville’s Harrison Park, the Oakwood boys’ golf team placed 16th in the 17-school event.
Oakwood’s composite score was 87. Meet champion St. Thomas More shot a combined 58.
On Friday (Aug. 11), Rowdy Vick-Phelps posted a 69 and was the team-leader in a meet against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, Milford and Hoopeston Area.
The Comets didn’t have enough participants to be scored as a team. Firing 72s were Alex Silha and Tristan Wenzelman.
Oakwood will return to action on Monday (Aug. 14) at the Urbana Tiger Kickoff Classic at the Urbana Country Club.
