Oakwood baseball defeats Schlarman Academy and Hoopeston Area

Xander Wilson collected two hits and pitched four innings to get the victory in the first Oakwood Junior High baseball game of the season on Thursday (Aug. 10), a 10-6 triumph at Hoopeston Area.
In his stint on the mound, Wilson permitted two hits while walking two batters and striking out four hitters.
Nathan Young (1 1/3 innings) and Riglee Hart (1 2/3 innings) combined for four more strikeouts over the final three innings.
Weston Frazier knocked three hits and Wilson tallied three runs at Hoopeston. Hart poked two hits and drove in two runs. Wilson stole two bases.
On Friday (Aug. 11), Oakwood dropped a 16-6 decision at Milford.
Wilson produced two hits, scored three runs and swiped four bases.
Besides Wilson, squad members with hits in both games are Hart, Drake Roberts and Jathan Perez.
Frazier, Stitt and Kemper Hinchman shared the pitching load. Stitt took the loss.
On Monday (Aug. 14), Oakwood suffered a 4-2 loss at Salt Fork.
Young produced two hits and had an RBI. Roberts stole three bases and Wilson swiped two bases.
Wilson took the loss, striking out seven batters in five innings. Hart pitched a hitless final inning.
On Tuesday (Aug. 15), Oakwood defeated visiting Schlarman Academy, 8-3, in its home-opener.
Young grabbed the win, scattering two hits over three innings. He struck out six batters. Hart threw the final three innings and did not allow a hit. He fanned four hitters and walked no one.
Oakwood was limited to three hits, one each from Frazier, Hart and Wilson. Wilson delivered three RBI. Frazier stole four bases and Young stole two bases. The team was 11-for-11 on stolen base attempts.
Oakwood (2-2) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 17) at home against St. Joseph. The game will be played at Newtown.
