Spartans begin golf season at Urbana Tiger Kickoff classic

Ashten Cafarelli tied for ninth on Monday (Aug. 14) in the 15-school Urbana Tiger Kickoff classic boys’ golf tournament at Urbana Country Club.
Cafarelli fired a 79. There were a total of 85 participants.
As a team, the Spartans placed ninth with a 366 composite.
The Spartans’ other competitors were Talan Miller (88), Asher Pruemer (96), Ty Buss (103), Devin Swisher (103) and Trevor Ames (112).
On Wednesday (Aug. 16), Cafarelli shot an even par 36 to win medalist honors in a three-school meet at Danville’s Harrison Park.
Team scores were not tabulated in a meet that also included Oakwood and Chrisman.
Other scores for the Spartans were Pruemer (44), Miller (45), Swisher (48), Buss (50) and Ames (53).
SJ-O returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 17) at Willow Pond, in Rantoul, against Danville.
