Macie Russell finishes 2nd at St. Thomas More Invite

Oakwood/Salt Fork senior Macie Russell was the individual runner-up on Saturday (Aug. 25) in the 69-runner Saber Corn Classic girls’ cross-country invitational in Champaign.

Russell finished 3.8 seconds behind the winner with a 3-mile time of 20 minutes, 42.8 seconds.

Other team leaders were Callie Richardson (13^th in 22:56.0), Zoe Moudy (50^th in 29:01.7), Lanie Birge (55^th in 30:14.6) and Miley Pierce (65^th in 36:17.5).

In the team chase, Oakwood/Salt Fork tied for sixth in the eight-school event with 147 points. The meet champion was Urbana Uni High with 66 points.

The Comets will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 2) in the Chrisman Cowchip Classic.
