Oakwood softball loses to Gifford

Oakwood reached a season’s high for runs scored, but needed 10 innings on Tuesday (Aug. 29) to secure an 18-16 junior high softball victory at Gifford.
The 10th inning rally started with two outs when Chloe Vinson, Amy Trimmel and Ashtyn Dailey all delivered back-to-back-to-back hits.
Trimmel scored six runs. Dailey tallied four runs and also contributed three RBI, three stolen bases and three hits. Lainee Smith crossed home plate three times and collected two RBI.
Dailey also picked up the pitching win, and registered 11 strikeouts.
Oakwood (4-4) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 31) at home against Westville.
