Panther baseball defeats Gifford

Coming off an 11-day layoff, St. Joseph registered a 9-4 win at Gifford on Monday (Aug. 28).

Lucas Barton, Hunter Cler and Ike Shelato all recorded two hits for the Panthers. One of Shelato’s hits was a double.

Shelato, Owen Wall and Ryder Van Meenen all scored two runs.

Van Meenen pitched the first three innings and grabbed the win. He allowed three hits, no earned runs and posted four strikeouts. Trey Divan worked the last four innings, permitting two hits, one walk and striking out two hitters.

St. Joseph (4-3) returns to action on Wednesday (Aug. 30) at Bismarck-Henning.
