Four Spartans place in top 3 flighted races at Cowchip Classic

Four St. Joseph-Ogden athletes placed among the top three in their flighted races on Saturday (Sept. 2) in the Chrisman Cowchip Classic girls’ cross-country invitational.
In the flighted race for No. 1 runners, junior Savanna Franzen was third with a 3-mile time of 20:02.0. In the race for No. 2 runners, senior Chloe Burkhalter was third in 21:12.1.
In the flight for No. 6 runners, sophomore Hannah Mock was second in 24:07.8. In the flight for No. 7 runners, Spartan freshman Kiah Riesel was third in 25:33.2.
SJ-O’s other entrant was sophomore Sydney Steinbach, who took 10th in the race for No. 5 runners in 27:07.2
The Spartans did not have enough runners to be scored as a team.
Meet champion Tolono Unity totaled 59 points. Urbana Uni High was next (143 points), followed by Robinson (167 points).
SJ-O will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 5) at Kickapoo State Park against Oakwood/Salt Fork, Armstrong-Potomac and Hoopeston Area.
