Adam Bello leads Panthers at Cowchip Classic

St. Joseph’s Adam Bello ran fifth on Friday (Sept. 1) in the seventh-grade boys’ division of the Chrisman Junior High Cowchip Classic cross-country meet.
Bello’s 2-mile time was 12 minutes, 37.5 seconds. There were 88 runners in the race.
Teammates in the race were Brady Johnson (23rd in 13:43.8), Luke Dunn (63rd in 16:22.0) and Ramsey Arnold (67th in 16:24.5).
In the boys’ eighth-grade division, the Panthers’ Eli Franklin was 13th in 12:33.0.
Teammates trailing him were Patrick Clark (33rd in 14:01.6), Henry McCannon (36th in 14:15.8), Hunter Dilley (38th in 14:28.2) and Holden Hausle (52nd in 15:18.3).
In the boys’ sixth-grade race, St. Joseph’s Camden Fisher captured fourth place (12:45.9).
Other Panthers in the race were Kelton Pruemer (24th in 14:24.3), Alex Weidenburner (38th in 15:10.2), Ethan Burnett (68th in 16:45.0) and Tyson Huckstadt (69th in 16:50.7).
In the boys’ fifth-grade race, six St. Joseph athletes finished among the top 45, led by Carson Coffey (11th in 15:00.0).
Other team leaders were Brandon Jackson (15th in 15:49.1), Kasper Zadeh (33rd in 18:01.7), Henry Cluver (37th in 20:01.4), Deklan Quinn (38th in 20:06.3) and Blake Franklin (41st in 20:31.4).
There were no team scores kept.
On Tuesday (Aug. 29), eight of the top 15 placers in a five-team meet at Winter Park, in Danville, were wearing the Panthers’ jerseys.
Eli Franklin was the winner (12.23) and finished 17 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Other team leaders were Fisher (third in 12:47), Bello (fourth in 12:49), Clark (eighth in 13:43), Johnson (11th in 14:13), Pruemer (12th in 14:19), Nathan Hinkle (14th in 14:52) and McCannon (15th also in 14:52).
There were 44 participants in the race.
