St. Joseph Baseball extends win-streak to four games
The St. Joseph Panthers extended their baseball winning streak to four games with back-to-back wins.
The Panthers shut out Bismarck-Henning 7-0 in a road game on Wednesday (Aug. 30) and returned home on Thursday (Aug. 31) to edge Monticello, 4-3.
Owen Wall fired a two-hitter – both singles – against B-H. He walked no one and struck out eight hitters.
Ike Shelato paced the offensive attack, going 3-for-4. He scored two runs. Teammates Kiptyn Rosenthal and Hunter Cler each tallied one run.
Against Monticello, St. Joseph broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Rosenthal, Trey Divan and Lucas Barton all recorded two hits. Barton scored two runs and Rosenthal had two RBI along with stealing two bases.
Ryder VanMeenen pitched the first six innings and earned the win. He scattered four hits and two walks. Van Meenen struck out four hitters.
Brock Franzen picked up the save, throwing a scoreless seventh inning and fanning one batter.
On Friday (Sept. 1), St. Joseph topped Prairieview Ogden 7-3 in a game where each school allowed just one earned run.
Shelato pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed two hits and one walk. He fanned three batters. Divan worked the last 2 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out two hitters.
Shelato scored two runs and stole two bases. Rosenthal also had two runs and two stolen bases. Wall and Liam Carter each delivered two RBI.
St. Joseph was limited to three hits, singles by Rosenthal, Wall and Carter.
St. Joseph (7-3) returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 6) at Urbana.
