Tessa Walker places 3rd at Cowchip Classic, wins in Danville

St. Joseph’s Tessa Walker placed third on Friday (Sept. 1) in the eighth-grade girls’ division of the Chrisman Junior High Cowchip Classic cross-country meet.

Walker’s 2-mile time was 13 minutes, 12.1 seconds.

Teammate Avarie Dietiker was 10th individually in 14:29.9.

There were no team scores in the meet.

Other Panthers in the 63-runner eighth-grade field were Aubree Profancik (18th in 15:08.7), Ava Gallo (27th in 15:47.5) and Marissa Smith (33rd in 16:58.1).

In the race for seventh-grade girls, St. Joseph had four of the top 13 placers in a 70-runner field, led by Tabby Brown (third in 13:50.1).

Other teammates following her were: Ava Overstreet (fifth in 14:03.1), Charlene Barbee (ninth in 14:19.1) and Kennedi Dean (13th in 15:02.9).

In the race for sixth-grade girls, Panther Claire Dirksmeyer ended ninth in 15:19.8. Other teammates in the top 30 in a 75-runner field were Ellie Miller (21st in 16:41.8), Kinsley Oleynichak (26th in 16:58.6) and Thea Hinkel (27th in 17:04.9).

In the race for fifth-grade girls, St. Joseph secured four of the top 10 positions in a 41-runner field.

Placing fifth was Madison Lubinski (15:35.0). Following her were Kendall Lubinski (seventh in 16:40.0), Sophia Albrecht (eighth in 16:53.1) and Payslie Hogan (10th in 16:59.8).

Team scores were not tabulated.

On Tuesday (Aug. 29), Walker was the individual champion in a seven-school meet at Winter Park, in Danville.

Her time of 13:14 gave her a 3.14-second margin of victory.

Seven of her teammates finished among the top 12 in a 41-race field.

Other top Panthers were Dean (fourth in 14:22), Brown (fifth in 14:23), Overstreet (sixth in 14:27), Barbee (seventh in 14:40), Dietiker (eighth in 15:10), Profancik (10th in 15:29) and Dirksmeyer (12th in 15:35).
