Heritage volleyball places second at Westville Invitational

Destanee Morgan recorded 12 digs on Tuesday (Sept. 5) for the Heritage volleyball team, which dropped a 25-17, 25-11 non-conference decision at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
Mary Roland handed out seven assists.
On Thursday (Sept. 7), the Hawks lost their conference-opener, 25-10, 27-25 at unbeaten Cerro Gordo/Bement.
Roland produced 22 assists and seven digs.
Madi Wilson powered six kills and Loran Tate ended with five kills.
On Saturday (Sept 9), the Hawks finished second in the Westville Invitational after winning three of four matches.
Heritage lost to the host Tigers (25-18, 25-17) before putting together wins over South Vermillion, Ind., (25-23, 25-17), Donovan (25-11, 25-20) and Dieterich (21-25, 25-13,15-11).
Roland and Riley Miller were chosen for the all-tournament team.
Roland amassed 67 assists and 10 service aces while Miller logged a team-high 22 kills to go with two blocks.
Tate swatted 17 kills and ended with two blocks. Wilson contributed 12 kills while Gracie Tate collected 18 digs and 10 kills.
Morgan ended with 20 digs and eight assists. Lilli Montgomery totaled 17 digs. Bailee Lubben added 10 digs.
Westville, which is undefeated, won the team championship.
Heritage (9-5-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 12) at Toledo Cumberland.
