Macie Russell wins at PBL Invitational

Oakwood/Salt Fork senior Macie Russell was the individual winner on Saturday (Sept. 9) in the 75-runner girls’ Paxton-Buckley-Loda Cross-Country Invitational.
Russell’s 3-mile time was 19 minutes and 21 seconds. She entered the finish chute 21 seconds in advance of the runner-up.
The Comets placed seventh in the team chase with 175 points. Meet champion St. Thomas More had a composite score of 47 points.
Other Oakwood/Salt Fork placers were Callie Richardson (16th in 21:24), Zoe Moudy (56th in 26:47), Lanie Birge (64th in 28:10), Miley Pierce (72nd in 32:09) and Macie Kinney (73rd in 36:53).
In the boys’ race at PBL, Oakwood/Salt Fork did not have enough runners to be scored as a team.
The Comets’ leaders were Brayden Edwards (32nd in 18:45), Ben Darling (61st in 20:46), Alex Wells (66th in 21:03) and Logan Henthorn (75th in 21:40).
Oakwood/Salt Fork will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 12) in the Vermilion County Meet.
