Despite dominating possession, Oakwood was unable to push across a goal on Thursday (Sept.7) at home against Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda and settled for a 0-0 tie.
The Comets held a 19-4 edge on total shots attempted.
Oakwood/Salt Fork goalkeeper Jakob Rupp registered two saves.
On Friday (Sept. 8), in first-round action of the Hoopeston Area Cornjerker Classic, the Comets fell to Bloomington Central Catholic, 3-2 in a shootout.
The teams were tied, 2-2, after regulation.
Oakwood/Salt Fork’s Brody Taflinger totaled one goal and one assist. Saul Carrillo had the other goal and Macen Phillips added the other assist.
BCC held a 15-9 edge on total shots.
Rupp had five saves for the Comets and Grant Brewer had one save.
On Saturday (Sept. 9), Oakwood/Salt Fork suffered losses to Arthur Christian (3-0) and to Herscher (4-1). Tucker Pesek netted the Comets’ lone goal for the day.
The Comets (4-5-1) return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 12) at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
