Panther softball enters postseason with 6-game win streak

The St. Joseph Panthers softball team closed the regular season with three consecutive wins at home, raising its winning streak to six games entering the postseason.

St. Joseph edged Bismarck-Henning, 8-6, on Friday (Sept. 1),  handled Champaign Jefferson, 12-1, on Wednesday (Sept. 6), and landed a 3-1 win over Oakwood on Saturday (Sept. 9).

Against Jefferson, Lyla Patton twirled a two-hitter and allowed one earned run. She walked six and struck out nine.

Brooklyn Stevens drilled three hits and knocked in three runs. Addison Knight tallied three runs. Stevens scored twice as did Ashlee Jannusch and Ella Buhs. Avery Haley collected two RBI.

Against B-H, Stevens earned the pitching win. She threw all seven innings, yielding five hits and six walks. She fanned nine hitters.

Jannusch socked three hits and scored twice. Mia Miller ended with two hits.

Stevens and Patton each drove in two runs. Haley tallied two runs.

Against Oakwood, Patton fired a seven-inning four-hitter. She walked no one and struck out 10.

Braelyn Ikemire was 3-for-3. Stevens socked two hits. Stevens and Jannusch each had an RBI. Addison Knight, Miller and Candice Wright tallied the team’s runs.

St. Joseph concludes the regular season with a 15-4 overall record.
