St. Joseph-Ogden places second at Spartan Classic

St. Joseph-Ogden’s boys’ cross-country team ran second on Saturday (Sept. 23) in the 51st annual Spartan Classic cross-country invitational.
Tuscola totaled 20 points and captured team honors. Host SJ-O was the runner-up with 86 points in the 23-school field.
In a race with 167 competitors, SJ-O senior Carson Maroon was third with a 3-mile time of 14 minutes, 46.58 seconds.
Three of his teammates secured top-20 finishes. Aden Armstrong was 10th (15:42.15), Jack Fisher was 11th (15:47.30) and Lance Retz was 18th (16:05.40).
Other Spartan competitors were Holden Jones (46th in 16:56.29), Nate Farney (52nd in 17:02.61) and Colin Burnett (71st in 17:40.01.
SJ-O returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 30) at Terre Haute, Ind., in the Nike XC Town Twilight.
