Wells and Edwards lead Comets at Spartan Classic

Thomas Wells and Brayden Edwards were the top runners on Saturday (Sept. 23) for Oakwood/Salt Fork in the 51st Spartan Classic boys’ cross-country meet in St. Joseph.
Wells placed 79th and completed the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 52.22 seconds and Edwards ran 94th in 18:22.70.
The Comets’ other finishers were Logan Henthorn (126th in 19:40.20), Ben Darling (134th in 19:57.32) and Alex Wells (140th in 20:09.04.
On Tuesday (Sept. 26), the Comets didn’t have enough runners to be scored as a team in the Heritage Invitational at Homer Lake.
The team leaders were Edwards (12th in 21:23.9), Henthorn (16th in 22:58.7), Darling (19th in 23:54.0) and Alex Wells (20th in 23:54.2).
The meet champion was Paris with 24 points. Heritage (31 points) was the runner-up.
Oakwood/Salt Fork returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 30) in the Oakwood Invitational.
