Paul finishes as runner-up at Champaign County meet

Heritage’s Christian Paul was the runner-up on Thursday (Sept. 27) in the boys’ Champaign County cross-country meet at Tolono Unity.
Paul’s 2-mile time was 11 minutes 0.3 seconds.
Heritage had one other entry in the boys’ varsity race. Owen Elmore was 87th in 17:24.5.
On Saturday (Sept. 29), Paul was the runner-up in the Monticello Invitational. His time was 10:59.4. Elmore clocked in at 18:06.9 and finished 157th.
In the girls’ varsity Champaign County race, Heritage finished 10th in the 12-team field with 283 points.
Reaghan Stierwalt was the team-leader, completing the 2-mile course in 15 minutes, 44,4 seconds. She placed 46th.
Teammates following her were Rylen Stierwalt (48th in 16:02.5), Gwen Keely (51st in 16:17.2), Rhorie Stierwalt (72nd in 17:47.4) and Kimber Sands (77th in 18:19.7).
In the girls’ meet at Monticello, Reaghan Stierwalt was the team-leader, posting a 14:08.9 time. She placed 31st.
Following her were teammates Rylen Stierwalt (79th in 15:42.8), Rhorie Stierwalt (80th in 15:45.4) Keely (97th in 16:40.4) and Sands (114th in 18:20.3).
Heritage returns to action on Friday (Sept. 6) in a 14-school IESA Class 1A regional at Danville’s Winter Park. The girls’ race will start at 3:30 p.m.
