St. Joseph basketball defeats Hoopeston Area

Ainsley Dirksmeyer’s game-high 13 points sparked the St. Joseph eighth-grade girls’ basketball team to a 40-4 win at home on Monday (Oct. 2) against Hoopeston Area.

Megan Kearney scored eight points, Ava Alexander added six points and Avery Lappin totaled four points.

Also contributing to the team’s scoring were Brooklyn Stevens (three points), Avery Haley (two points), Addison Knight (two points) and Vivian Smith (two points).

On Thursday (Sept. 28), St. Joseph lost a 37-13 decision at Paris Mayo. Dirksmeyer and Lyla Patton each scored four points.

The Panthers (2-3) return to action on Thursday (Oct. 5) at Cissna Park.
