Heritage eighth-grader Christian Paul won the IESA Class 1A boys’ cross-country meet on Saturday (Oct. 14) at Normal’s Maxwell Park.
Paul ran the 2-mile course in 10 minutes, 54.6 seconds.
There were a total of 221 runners in the state race. Paul was victorious by seven seconds over an eighth-grader from Urbana University High.
Heritage was also represented at state by two members of the girls’ cross-country team.
Eighth-grader Reaghan Stierwalt, a first-year runner, finished 67th in a field of 199 competitors in 14:15.6. Eighth-grade teammate Leah DelRossi was 101st in 14:31.8.
