Heritage girls’ basketball defeats Chrisman

The Heritage eighth-grade girls’ basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak on Thursday (Oct. 12) with a 30-16 win at home over Chrisman.
Peyton Curry-Varner netted 12 points and Kaylee Junglas chipped in with 10 points. Reaghan Stierwalt added six points. Violet Chesnut tallied two points.
The previous three losses were all in games played away from Homer.
On Tuesday (Oct. 10), Heritage lost to Hoopeston Area, 29-26. Junglas totaled 11 points. Stierwalt hit six points and Curry-Varner had five points. Chesnut and Kalyn Miller both made two points.
On Thursday (Oct. 5), Heritage lost at Arcola, 36-20. Curry-Varner had a team-high six points. Junglas and Miller both added four points. Scoring two points apiece were Chesnut, Stierwalt and Leah DelRossi.
On Tuesday (Oct. 3), Heritage lost at Georgetown Mary Miller, 28-23. Junglas netted eight points.
Miller connected for seven points and Chesnut tallied three points. Finishing with two points each were Curry-Varner and Addison Fleming. Addi Shanks made a free throw.
Heritage (3-5) returns to action on Monday (Oct. 23) at Homer against Prairieview Ogden.

The Heritage seventh-grade girls’ basketball team topped Chrisman, 23-14. Junglas made a team-high 14 points.
Also contributing to the scoring column were Fleming (three points), Scarlett Eslinger (two points), Gracie Latham (two points) and Makayla Osterbur (two points).
At Hoopeston, the Heritage seventh-graders dropped a 34-7 decision. Junglas, Stierwalt and Alisha Alrawahna all scored two points. Madilynn Roy connected on a free throw.
At Arcola, Heritage suffered a 35-14 loss. Junglas led the way with six points. Fleming contributed four points. Ending with two points each were Stierwalt and Alrawahna.
Heritage edged Georgetown Mary Miller, 26-25, with five players adding to the scoring totals.
Junglas made 14 points. Fleming and Eslinger each netted four points. Stierwalt and Makayla Osterbur tallied two points apiece.
Heritage (4-4) returns to action on Monday (Oct. 23) at home against Prairieview Ogden.
