Mustangs win last four out of five

Prairieview Ogden’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball team captured four wins in a recent eight-day span before the streak was snapped on Monday (Oct. 30).
The Mustangs’ streak started on Thursday (Oct. 19) with a 46-13 win at home in Flatville over Villa Grove and continued with victories over Heritage in Homer on Monday (Oct. 23), 38-7, and then at home over Paxton-Buckley-Loda, 36-17, on Tuesday (Oct. 24) before adding a 33-6 win on Thursday (Oct. 26) at Rossville.
On Monday (Oct. 30), at home against Monticello, PVO lost a 32-16 decision. Miller tallied seven points and Greta Goldenstein finished with five points.
Against Villa Grove, Atleigh Miller tallied 18 points and Leah Pruitt contributed four points.
Against Heritage, Miller and Goldenstein each hit 10 points. Grace Bressner and Makayla Hesterberg each chipped in with four points.
Against PBL, Miller netted 17 points and Goldenstein made nine points.
Against Rossville, Miller tossed in 12 points and Bella Frerichs added six points.
The recent win streak followed a 29-20 loss at St. Joseph on Tuesday (Oct. 17). In that game, Miller swished eight points and Hesterberg ended with four points.
The PVO eighth-graders have a 14-3 season record.

After back-to-back losses, the Mustangs’ seventh-grade girls’ basketball team earned three consecutive wins before falling at home on Monday (Oct. 30) to Monticello.
PVO topped Heritage in Homer on Monday (Oct. 23), 28-15, and then followed up with a 30-6 win at home in Flatville over PBL on Tuesday (Oct. 24) and then carved out a 27-16 win at Rossville on Thursday (Oct. 26).
On Monday (Oct. 30), the Mustangs lost to Monticello, 40-12.
Against Heritage, Sydney Abernathy and Ella Mohr each recorded eight points. Kelsie Harms added six points.
Against PBL, Mohr led the way with eight points. Both Abernathy and Kolbie Busboom chipped in with six points.
Against Rossville, both Busboom and Harms generated eight points. Abernathy added six points.
Against Monticello, Mohr totaled five points and Harms hit four points.
The other losses were to Villa Grove at home in Flatville, 43-15, on Thursday (Oct. 19) and at St. Joseph in overtime, 14-12, on Tuesday (Oct. 17).
Against Villa Grove, Abernathy registered eight points and Busboom contributed five points.
Against St. Joseph, Abernathy tossed in five points. Busboom scored three points.
The PVO seventh-graders have an 11-6 overall record.
Both of the Mustangs’ teams return to action on Thursday (Nov. 2) at Westville.
