Mustangs head into postseason play with a 3-game win streak

Prairieview Ogden’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball team concluded the regular season with a three-game winning streak.
The Mustangs won at Westville, 46-17, on Thursday (Nov. 2), then played-back-to-back home games, handling Georgetown-Ridge Farm, 56-13, on Monday (Nov. 6) and Rantoul St. Malachy, 48-4, on Thursday (Nov. 9).
Against Westville, Kellyn Irwin scored 13 points and Atleigh Miller totaled 10 points.
Against G-RF, Miller hit the 20-point mark for the second time this season. Makayla Hesterberg added eight points.
Against St. Malachy, Greta Goldenstein led the way with 12 points. Grace Bessner and Miller both tallied eight points.
The eighth-graders are 17-3 and start postseason play on Saturday (Nov. 18) at 5:30 p.m. at the IESA St. Malachy Class 1A Regional.
PVO is the No. 1 seed and will play either fourth-seeded Schlarman Academy or fifth-seeded Heritage in a semifinal game. Schlarman and Heritage play one another on Thursday (Nov. 18) in the quarterfinals.

The PVO seventh-graders carried a 13-8 season record into the semifinals of the Milford IESA Class 1A regional against second-seeded Cissna Park. PVO is the regional’s No.3 seed.
The Mustangs handed Heritage a 34-20 loss in the regional quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 11). Ella Mohr posted 10 points and Kolbie Busboom totaled eight points.
The PVO seventh-graders lost at home to St. Malachy, 19-13 on Thursday (Nov. 9). Sydney Abernathy notched five points. Finishing with four points apiece were Busboom and Mohr.
Against Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Monday (Nov. 6), the Mustangs held the visitors without a field goal in a 37-1 victory. Mohr swished 14 points and Busboom contributed six points.
Against Westville on Thursday (Nov. 2), PVO suffered a 34-26 setback. Mohr (12 points) and Busboom (eight points) were the team’s top scorers.
