Panthers kick of 2024 season with 6 wins

The St. Joseph seventh-grade boys’ basketball team maintained its unbeaten start to the season with three wins in an eight-day span.
The Panthers topped Champaign Next Generation, 45-12, on Monday (Nov. 6), Tolono Unity, 49-19, on Tuesday (Nov. 7) and Westville, 52-28, on Monday (Nov. 13).
The Next Generation game was the team’s home-opener. The Unity game was also played in St. Joseph.
Brock Franzen notched a game-high 13 points against Next Gen. Kyler Smith and Landyn Thome each recorded eight points.
Against Unity, Franzen hit 17 points and Kiptyn Rosenthal tossed in 11 points.
Against Westville, Franzen led the way with 16 points. Both Rosenthal and Smith connected for eight points.
St. Joseph (6-0) returns to action on Thursday (Nov. 16) at Danville Schlarman Academy.
