Jaydah Arrowsmith scored 13 points on Friday (Nov. 24) as Oakwood won the fifth-place game over Rantoul, 41-21, in the Comet Classic girls’ basketball tournament at Fithian.
Oakwood expanded a 17-16 halftime lead by outscoring the Eagles 11-0 in the third stanza.
Nikita Taylor tallied 11 points, Gracie Hanner had eight points and Luci Morris contributed five points. Emma Koontz and Taylor Smoot each notched two points.
On Wednesday (Nov. 22), Arrowsmith made a season-high 25 points as the Comets posted their first win, 46-17, over Heritage.
Morris tallied eight points and Hanner made five points.
Other team scoring leaders were Koontz (four points), Mayci Martin (two points) and Smoot (two points).
The Comets took a 16-2 lead after one quarter.
Oakwood (2-3) returns to action on Monday (Nov. 27) against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
