Oakwood girls’ basketball finds stride in winning 3 of last 4 games

Oakwood’s girls’ basketball team has won three of its last four games following an 0-3 start to the season. The latest victory was over Rantoul, 51-31, on Saturday (Dec. 2) on the Eagles’ court.
Nikita Taylor provided a season-high 19 points for the Comets. Jaydah Arrowsmith finished with 16 points. Making six points apiece were Gracie Hanner and Mady Nicoson. Luci Morris and Taylor Smoot both connected for two points.
Oakwood was 17-for-29 from the free throw line. Arrowsmith hit 8 of 11 attempts, Taylor made 5 of 11 shots and Hanner dropped in 4 of 5 from the charity stripe.
The Comets improved a 10-8 lead after one quarter into a 25-17 bulge at halftime.
Oakwood (3-4) returns to action on Monday (Dec. 4) at home against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
