State-ranked Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestling remains unbeaten through dual-meet at Vandalia

Nine Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestlers won all three of their matches on Saturday (Dec. 9) as the Comets captured three dual-meet team wins at Vandalia.
Four of the Comets finished off all three of their opponents by pins: Brayden Edwards (113 pounds), Thomas Wells (126 pounds), Dalton Brown (175 pounds) and Kade Fleming (285 pounds).
Also going 3-0 for the day were Tyler Huchel (120 pounds), Pedro Rangel (132 pounds), Jack Ajster (138 pounds), Grant Brewer (150 pounds) and Bryson Capansky (157 and 165 pounds).
Huchel, Ajster and Capansky posted two pins. Rangel and Brewer each had one pin.
Finishing 2-1 for the Comets on Saturday were Steven Uden (106 pounds), Carter Chambliss (144 pounds) and Jamison Chambliss (190 pounds).
Uden recorded two pins. Both Carter and Jamison Chambliss ended with one pin.
At 165 pounds, Reid Dazey was 1-1 with one pin.
For the day, Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestlers had a cumulative record of 34-8 with 25 pins.
The Comets (10-0) return to action on Saturday (Dec. 16) in the Skull and Crossbones Classic at Toledo Cumberland.
In state rankings compiled by the Illinois Matmen and released on Dec. 2, Oakwood/Salt Fork was rated sixth among the state’s Class 1A teams.
Individually, eight Comets received recognition. Capansky was fourth at 165, Brown was fifth at 175, Huchel was seventh at 120, Edwards was eighth at 113 and Rangel was eighth at 132.
Receiving an honorable mention citation were Carter Chambliss (138), Brewer (150) and Harley Grimm (215).
