Spartans top AL/AH in SJO Shootout

Addy Martinie poured in a season-high 21 points on Saturday (Dec. 16) and two teammates joined her in double figures as the St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ basketball team topped Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 49-39, in the first SJ-O girls’ shootout.
Addison Seggebruch (13 points), Addison Frick (11 points) and Katie Ericksen (four points) lended their support in the scoring column.
Martinie nailed a season-high five three-point shots. Frick popped in three three-pointers while Ericksen and Seggebruch made one apiece.
SJ-O led, 14-8, after one quarter and 29-18 at halftime.
On Thursday (Dec. 14), Seggebruch produced the first 20-point game this season for the St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ basketball team as the Spartans triumphed at home over Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, 55-26.
Seggebruch hit 3-of-4 free throws en route to her 20-point outing. Frick and Martinie each added 11 points for SJ-O.
Addison Brooks scored five points and Ericksen had four points. Finishing with two points apiece were Kaitlyn Beyers and Timera Blackburn-Kelley.
SJ-O led, 6-5, after one quarter and 23-15 at halftime before pulling away with a 19-6 third-quarter burst.
The Spartans (4-5) return to action on Monday (Dec. 18) at Cissna Park.
