SJ-O wrestling defeats South Vermillion at home

Emmitt Holt produced the fastest pin for the St. Joseph-Ogden wrestling team on successive nights to start the week.
In a 42-35 dual-meet decision at home over South Vermillion (Ind.) on Tuesday (Jan. 9), his pin at 106 pounds was secured in 39 seconds.
In a 60-17 win at Centennial on Wednesday (Jan. 10), Holt’s pin took place in 1:09.
Other Spartans with pins against South Vermillion were Jackson Walsh (113 pounds), Landen Butts (132 pounds), Holden Brazelton (138 pounds), Coy Hayes (150 pounds), Khaden Hallowell (190 pounds) and Quincy Jones (215 pounds).
Each school won seven bouts.
Joining Holt with pins against the Chargers were Walsh, Hayes and James Barron (165 pounds).
SJ-O wrestlers to win by decision were Brazelton (3-2 score at 138 pounds) and Nathan Daly (9-6 at 157 pounds). Picking up forfeit wins were Camden Getty (120 pounds), Eli Birt (126 pounds), Butts, Thomas Ware (144 pounds) and Hallowell.
SJ-O (15-9) returns to action on Friday (Jan. 12) and Saturday (Jan. 13) in the Illini Prairie Conference meet at Tolono Unity.
