Comets open VCC play with win over Georgetown-Ridge Farm

Alec Harrison scored 22 points and Carsen Dudley added 13 points on Saturday (Jan. 13) as the Oakwood boys’ basketball team opened play in the Vermilion County Tournament with a 54-38 triumph over Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
The week-long tournament is being held at Danville Area Community College’s Mary Miller Gymnasium.
Other pointmakers for the Comets were Cort Vermillion (six points), Brody Taflinger (five points), Jackson Dudley (three points), Bryson McDaniel (three points) and Hayden Thompson (two points).
Oakwood led, 19-2, after one quarter and 33-13 at halftime.
The Comets (15-5) return to action on Tuesday (Jan. 16) at DACC against fifth-seeded Armstrong-Potomac at 6:30 p.m. The Comets are the No. 2 seed.
