Comets pick up Vermilion Valley Conference win over Georgetown-Ridge Farm

Three players scored in double figures on Tuesday (Jan. 23) as the Oakwood boys’ basketball team pulled away for a 58-20 Vermilion Valley Conference victory at Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
Carsen Dudley hit a game-high 17 points. Alec Harrison scored 14 points and Jackson Dudley made 13 points.
Alex Wallace tallied five points. Three other Comets connected for three points apiece: Ben Darling, Brody Taflinger and Cort Vermillion.
Carsen Dudley recorded four three-pointers. Both Darling, Jackson Dudley and Wallace garnered one three-pointer apiece.
Oakwood held a slender 11-8 lead after one quarter, but spurted into a 27-13 advantage at halftime. The Comets kept the Buffaloes off the scoreboard in the final period.
Oakwood (18-7 overall and 5-1 in the VVC) returns to action on Friday at Cissna Park.
