Three-pointers and free throws put SJ-O girls’ basketball over Rantoul

St. Joseph-Ogden displayed its prolific shooting touch on Monday (Jan. 29) at Rantoul in a 68-25 victory.
The Spartans nailed 14 three-point shots in the Illini Prairie Conference game as well as connecting on 6-of-6 free throw attempts.
Addy Martinie led the way, sinking five three-pointers en route to a game-high 19-point game. Addison Brooks matched the five made three-pointers and connected for 17 points.
They were followed by Timera Blackburn-Kelley (nine points), Addison Frick (seven points), Kayla Osterbur (seven points), Sara Kearney (four points), Katie Ericksen (three points) and Mackenzie Loschen (two points).
Besides the combined 10 three-pointers from Martinie and Brooks, Blackburn-Kelley, Ericksen, Frick and Osterbur all downed one three-pointer apiece.
For the year, the team leaders in three-pointers are Martinie (64), Frick (45), Brooks (32) and Ericksen (21).
The Spartans jumped into a 26-8 lead after one quarter and maintained a 31-15 halftime bulge.
SJ-O (13-10) returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 1) at home against Tolono Unity.
