Spartans win Illini Prairie Conference championship

Tanner Jacob and Tanner Siems each scored 13 points on Tuesday (Feb. 13) as the St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ basketball team clinched sole possession of the Illini Prairie Conference championship with a 72-42 win at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
SJ-O was 8-0 in league play.
Coy Taylor tossed in 11 points. Luke Landrus and Logan Smith each netted nine points. Collin Thomey contributed seven points and Kodey McKinney added four points. Finishing with two points apiece were Trevor Ames, Will Haley and Ryker Lockhart.
Smith dished out seven assists, Jacob had five assists and Taylor wound up with four assists. Siems hauled down six rebounds and Taylor grabbed five rebounds.
SJ-O (24-6) returns to action on Wednesday (Feb. 21) in the semifinal game of their own IHSA Class 2A regional tournament. The second-seeded Spartans will take on the winner between ninth-seeded Sullivan and 10th-seeded Westville.
